May 22nd, 2010 - 6:16 pm ICT by ANIJunagadh (Gujarat), May 22 (ANI): Mangoes from Jaspar village in Gujarat’s Junagadh District are again in demand this season on account of its superior quality, with more than 80 percent of mangoes having been exported so far.
Farmers of Talala Taluka are happy with the demand, as the entire production would be exported.
“With government’s new policy, international market has opened up which has enabled the farmers to export their products. The rate of the mangoes in other countries is double of what we sell here. Because of good harvest, we are earning profit,” said Dinesh Kapuria, a farmer.
“There is a very big demand of kesar mangoes from Gir and the sweetness of Gir mangoes is the best in the country. People prefer to eat Kesar mangoes from Gir. It is very important because the mangoes are chemically free and they are very good in quality,” said Nainesh Rairal, a foreign importer.
Farmers said the production of mangoes is better as compared to the last year, asserting that its demand in the European market is also touching new heights.
Local businessmen purchase the mangoes at Rs.323 per 20 kg, but exports fetch them a price of Rs.600-700 for it. (ANI)
