Surat, Aug.18 (ANI): Unique diamond Rakhis are in high demand in this famed city of diamond cutters in Gujarat.

Considering the festival’s significance, many jewellers are making varieties of diamond Rakhis to satisfy prospective buyers.

“The festivals are very important for India and when the festival of siblings is round the corner, our company has introduced Rakhis in a unique way. Last year, we had started this unique concept of using real diamonds for making Rakhis; continuing the same concept, we are introducing Rakhis priced at rupees 10,000 to 30,000 in the market,” said Praveenbhai Nanavati, a jeweller in Surat.

Nanavati further said that prices are relatively less, considering that demand is comng from medium income group customers.

Customers prefer to tie the sacred thread of precious stones as a sign of value they attach to sibling relationship.

“I chose a diamond Rakhi for my brother as diamonds are invaluable in our world. Likewise, my brother is invaluable for me. I chose a Rakhi which contains the symbol of India; it shows the love between a brother and sister and also a love towards my country,” said Ayushiben Patel, a customer.

The Rakhi is a symbol of affection between sisters and brothers, and Hindus have marked this annual ritual for centuries.

Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 24 this year. (ANI)
