Bathinda (Punjab), Dec.8 (ANI): A three-day-long Malwa Heritage festival, which commenced this week, is being celebrated in a grand way here to showcase the traditional values and culture of the region.
The annual festival is organised by the Malwa Heritage Foundation.
“Malwa Heritage Festival, this year, is marked with the celebration of a young couple’s marriage who were not financially well-off. I think this is a good gesture by the foundation and every society should take such steps,” said Seva Singh Sekhak, Minister for Public Relations.
The aim of the festival is intended to keep alive the cultural values and traditions of various states of India. Performers from round the country came forward to present their folk dances and artistic skills.
This year the event commenced with the wedding sponsored by the Malwa Heritage Foundation at the gurudwara.
“I and my friends are enjoying a lot. This event is very entertaining and this is the best way to show the values and traditions of our nation to the people around. According to me, one can get the best knowledge about the culture from this festival. The marriage, which is happening, is real and inspiring. The bride also seemed very elated with the news,” said Manpreet Kaur, a local visitor.
Dance performances by artistes from various states like Kashmir, Haryana and Rajasthan have captivated a lot of attention of the visitors. Beautifully decorated elephants and the horses dancing to the drums beats added to the beauty and uniqueness of the event.
People and participants present at the event suggested that such festivals are essential for the celebration of India spirit and its rich traditions.
“I am very fascinated to this festival, which is organised every year. It binds me with my ancestors and their culture. This is the best way one can learn and spread the beauty of our colour, culture and traditions,” said Kartar Singh, another visitor at the festival.
