Southern Sumatra,Indonesia shaken : 5.1 Richter

Moderate earthquake measured 5.1 Richter rocks Southern Sumatra,Indonesia at Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at 22:17:42 UTC,( Thursday 05:17:42 a.m WIT).

The earth quake was located at 1.799°S and 101.139°E at a depth of 69.5 km. The earthquake is 130 km SE of Padang, Sumatra, 250 km NNW of Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia, 455 km SW of SINGAPORE and 785 km NW of JAKARTA, Java, Indonesia.

There are no reports of casualties and material losses, But residents in the quake region such as Padang, Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang and southern coastal areas felt trembling. Official reported that many of them rushed out of their homes in panic.
