Yucaipa Fire Blazes Into 200 Acres Of Oak Glen Hills

289-250x2251A fire that commenced at 1:46 pm at the Potato Canyon Roads spread swiftly charring 2 acres by 2:10 pm reportedly, and has currently damaged an estimated 200 acres. The actual location of the fire is approximately 4-5 miles north of Beaumont. Presently the fire is moving towards south east, reportedly.

Firefighters are at the site near Oakland Road in Yucaipa were seeking the aid of air support. About 2000 firefighters have been deployed to suppress the fire in the neighboring areas. Segments of Oak Glen are being evacuated as emergency measures. Ground crew are reportedly clearing off the vegetation as precautionary measure, to avoid the spreading of the fire. A slew of fire officials in yellow seem to have flooded the trimmed landscape, taking a 350 acre area into their management.

Initially several bulldozers and 4 hand crews were immediately called on the fire site. Further the Martin Mars Air tanker had been made use of to assist the fire extinguishing process. Around 7 helicopters and 40 Engines were needed to control the blaze in the Oak Glen Mountain community, and another 60 Engines were ordered to be brought on the scene. Five water-tenders have also been put to use. Bill Peters, a Cal. Fire spokesman told sources that Yucaipa Fire had not damaged any homes or community buildings yet.

The Oak Glen Road from the Bryant Street point to Wildwood point has been shut off temporarily. The current recorded wind condition is 13 G16 mph W, temperatures soaring to 96 degrees and humidity recorded at 10%, with the fire blazing continuously.
