Wet morning in Delhi, hailstorm likely

New Delhi, March 3 (IANS) It was a wet Thursday morning in the capital with the weather office forecasting hail and thundershowers later in the day. The city recorded a minimum of 14 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal for this time of the season.

The India Meteorological Department attributed the rains to a western disturbance over the capital.

“Delhi received 1.6 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m. Thursday. Skies will remain cloudy with possibility of hailstorm and thundershowers in some parts of the capital. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 24 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.

Humidity settled at 97 percent.

The maximum temperature Wednesday was recorded two notches below average at 24.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 12.7 degrees, normal for this time of the season.
