snow1Jan 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A sudden increase in snowfall, almost overnight, has prompted in the closure of schools all over the United States on Friday. It has been reported that all schools across the state had either remained closed or had opened later than usual. The sudden surge in snowfall occurred over the night. However, the road were not much affected, thankfully, having been treated beforehand with chemicals. In fact, even the roads that had not been treated earlier did not have more than a couple of inches of snow.

However, the rods had become too slippery with all the snowfall, making it risky for the people commuting long distances. It was this fact that prompted the schools to remain closed, or else open at a later time, when the roads became easier and safer for travel. Schools in Western North Carolina, Washington D.C., and Michigan remained closed for the day. All schools in Stafford County, Virginia and Charles County in Maryland also declared that they would not be functioning.

A very few number of schools, like the public schools in Washington D.C., and some other private schools, reported that they would remain open for the day. Besides these, a huge number of the private schools and other institutions in the suburbs declared that they would be opening two hours after the scheduled time. Some of these schools also canceled their pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes, but only those that are generally held in the morning. Schools further had to be closed or else started late as the weather report predicted that the chill and occasional snow would remain for the rest of Friday.
