Typhoon Saola claims 41 lives in Philippines

Manila, Aug 4 (IANS) Typhoon Saola that hit the Philippines earlier in the week has killed at least 41 people, Xinhua reported Saturday.

As many as 35 people were injured while four are still missing, said Benito Ramos, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The weather disturbance has caused an estimated damage worth 289.853 million pesos(around $7 million) in the infrastructure and agriculture sectors.

A total of 49,975 families comprising 279,968 people are still staying in different evacuation centres, the official said.
