Two teenagers held for killing spotted deer

Raipur, June 24 (IANS) Two teenagers have been arrested in Bhilai in Chhattisgarh for torturing a group of spotted deer at a zoo, leaving two of the animals dead. Police said the teenagers Sunday sneaked into the deer enclosure at the Bhilai Steel Plant-run zoo, 30 km west from here, and began beating them.

About six out of the 60 deer sustained injuries. One dear died late Sunday and another Monday. The teenagers were arrested under sections 9 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act.
