Two held with tiger skin, barasingha antlers in Ghaziabad
April 8th, 2009 - 9:33 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad: April 8 (IANS) The Ghaziabad police arrested two people with a tiger skin and antlers of a ‘barasingha’ here Wednesday, officials said.
“The tiger skin and the antlers of a barasingha ( a species of a deer) were recovered from Omendra and Anees, residents of Meerut, when their car was stopped at the Mohan Nagar checkpost,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Happy Guptan said.
On being interrogated, Omendra and Anees confessed that they bought the contraband from Dehradun and were taking the skin and antlers to Delhi to be delivered to an international smuggler, the police said.
The duo have been arrested under Conservation of Wild Life Act, the police said.
