Lucknow, Nov 16 (IANS) Two men have been arrested with two leopard skins in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, police said Monday.
Kamal Singh and Mahendra Singh, both in their late 30s, were arrested late Sunday from Majhaula locality of Moradabad, about 250 km from state capital Lucknow.

They were allegedly involved in wildlife poaching and used to sell skins of wild animals in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“The two have confessed that the leopards were killed in a forest area of Uttarakhand,” Moradabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Badri Prasad Singh told IANS.

According to police, the two men have been involved in the poaching racket for the last 10 years.

Kamal and Mahendra had brought the skins to sell them off in Moradabad. Each skin would have fetched around Rs.200,000, another police officer said.
