Tropical Storm Olaf develops in the Pacific

Miami, Oct 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The hurricane season, which started in the Pacific in mid May, has got over fifteenth tropical storm till now. The latest to join is Tropical Storm Olaf, which formed around 2 pm PDT.

The centre of the storm is located about 575 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico.

According to the weather department, Olaf is moving toward the west-northwest at a speed of 6 miles per hour, and a turn toward the northwest is expected later on Thursday or on Friday.

The maximum gusts of winds are around 40 miles per hour, with higher speeds expected soon, on Thursday. It is predicted that the storm will tend to weaken after that.

The storm is expected to pose no threat to land.

The Pacific hurricane season will officially end on November 30.
