Traces of rain, but high temperature to continue in Delhi (Lead)
July 1st, 2010 - 8:28 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 1 (IANS) Though traces of rain Thursday evening brought some respite for Delhiites, the weatherman predicts high temperatures Friday.
Thursday remained hot as the maximum temperature was recorded at 38.9 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 30.1 degrees, both two notches above average.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), though more pre-monsoon showers are expected Friday, the temperatures will remain high.
“The sky will be partly clouded Friday with possibility of rain and thunderstorm. But, the maximum temperature is expected to remain at 41 degrees Celsius and minimum at 31 degrees,” an IMD official said.
Meanwhile, officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other civic bodies claimed they were fully prepared to deal with the monsoon.
“The work for de-silting drains is in full swing and we are also starting a special sanitation drive to keep the city clean during the monsoon and for the coming Commonwealth Games,” an MCD official said.
