tornado3Phoenix, Jan 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A tornado warning was issued on Thursday, Jan 21, by the National Weather Service in Phoenix. The warning had been issued for the northeastern regions of the Imperial County, the southeastern region of the Riverside county and also a part of West Central Arizona, the southwestern area of La Paz County. The warning, which had been issued sometime around 3:06 pm in the afternoon, expired around 4 pm in the afternoon. However, a tornado watch remains effective for the rest of the day, and continues till the next day.

Although the tornado did not strike, weather conditions were indeed severe, with heavy rain and a huge thunderstorm that threatened to turn into a tornado. A majority of flights had to be canceled, although many of them were reported to be en route to their respective destinations at the end of the day. A second tornado warning had been issued at the end of the day, sometime around 8:30 in the night, and it had expired at 9p.m. Some reports claim that the area of Scottsdale had been hit by a tornado a short while after the warning had expired, but so far, there has been no confirmation of the reports.

Some reports suggested that a tornado, or some wind connected to a tornado, had blown away some rigs, as per the reports of the California Highway Patrol. The meteorologists had predicted possible tornadoes in two areas, near the Blythe Airport, and also in the open country in the far end of the Imperial County. However, it had also been assured by the officials of the meteorological department that the tornado, if it strikes, would last for a very short span of time.
