Tigress kills teenager in Uttar Pradesh
June 3rd, 2011 - 2:59 pm ICT by IANSBahraich (Uttar Pradesh), June 3 (IANS) A tigress killed a teenager inside the Katarniaghat forest reserve here, an official said Friday.
Buddha, 14, a resident of Lonianpurwa village, was killed by the tigress Thursday in the Sujauli area of the forest reserve.
“We have learnt that the tigress attacked the teenager while he was collecting wood from the forest along with his sister and a friend, who managed to escape,” Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R.K. Singh told reporters Friday in Bahraich, some 130 km from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.
“A team of officials has been instructed to gather more information about the feline,” he added.
