Three held with sambar carcasses in Uttar Pradesh
March 8th, 2010 - 10:34 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, March 8 (IANS) Three poachers have been arrested with carcasses of sambar in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, police said Monday.
The three men, who are in their early 30s, were nabbed Sunday night with the carcasses of two sambars along the Mawana road in Meerut, some 300 km from here.
“All the three nabbed are residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district. They have admitted they have been killing sambar and other species of deer, mainly for their meat,” Inspector Vishwajeet Tyagi told reporters.
