Temperatures down in northern states

April 1st, 2008 - 10:12 pm ICT by admin -

(All India weather report)

New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) Most of the northern cities recorded a marginal fall in the maximum temperature Tuesday, thanks to the isolated thundershowers. The national capital witnessed a fall in the maximum temperature, which was recorded at 35.5 degrees Celsius, one degree down from Monday. The minimum temperature was 19.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees down from what is normal at this time of the season.

Delhi has also a scattered rainfall of 1.6-millimetre, signalling a small fall in the mercury. Besides Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Nagpur have also got some rainfall.

Delhi is witnessing an unusually moderate spell with the day’s high around 35 degrees Celsius and the low of about 22 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office said scattered rains would continue over northern plain for the next three-four days due to western disturbance.

Under the influence of wind discontinuity and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal scattered rain is likely to continue over northeastern states for the next three days, said the weatherman.

The following were the maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall in major cities for the 24 hours till Tuesday morning, with figures in brackets denoting deviations from the average.
