Temperature rises marginally in Shimla

Shimla, Jan 11 (IANS) The mercury rose marginally in this Himachal Pradesh capital Monday even as the higher reaches reeled under sub-zero temperature with Keylong being the coldest at minus 12.1 degrees Celsius.
“Shimla witnessed a minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius compared to Sunday’s 5.1 degrees Celsius,” Manmohan Singh, director of meteorological office here, told IANS.
He said Shimla’s minimum temperature was four degrees above average for this time of the year.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minimum temperatures of minus 12.1 degrees Celsius and minus 5 degrees Celsius respectively, as against lows of minus 11.9 degrees Celsius and minus 5.9 degrees Celsius Sunday.
Elsewhere, Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a low of 0.1 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu district minus 0.4 degrees and Dharamsala in Kangra district was at a low of 3.1 degrees Celsius.
