New Delhi, Jan 17 (IANS) Delhi saw bright sunshine Monday morning but icy winds had people shivering and the weatherman said these winds would blow throughout the day.”Though the sun will make an appearance during the day, it will not make any difference as the cold winds will blow throughout the day,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told IANS.

The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 a.m. was two notches below the average at 7.5 degrees Celsius. “The maximum temperature is likely to be around 19 degrees,” the official said.

The winds were blowing at a velocity of 5 km per hour and are attributed to snowfall in higher regions of the country, the official added.

The weather office has forecast similar conditions for Tuesday.

The humidity levels will oscillate between a high of 76 percent and a low of 44 percent Monday.

The coldest day of the season so far was Jan 4 with a minimum temperature of 3.7 degrees Celsius.
