Summer heat back in Delhi, rain in northeast (All India Weather Report)

New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) Residents of the national capital experienced the summer heat again Friday as the temperatures began rising after staying below normal for the past week following the cyclonic pressure over the Bay of Bengal. The maximum temperature in Delhi was 40.3 degrees Celsius Friday while the minimum was 27.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees above what is normal for this period of the season.

The highest maximum temperature in the country was 45.4 degrees Celsius at Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Even as people in the northern plains braved the summer heat and started counting days before the monsoon arrives in the region, parts of north-eastern and eastern India received scattered rainfall.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and eastern parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam received rain Friday and the the weather office forecast more showers for the region during next 3-4 days till Monday.
