Jan 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the top fishery scientist of the country, Steve Murawski recently issued a statement where he said that the problem of overfishing is coming towards a projected end. The scientist added that it was not an outcome of a decade but was the total outcome of a whole century which at last had attained its milestone. The century phenomenon is being hailed by the scientist as one which has reaped historic results helping to ensure the safety of various marine lives.
The fishing expert asserted that it was happening for the first time since 1900 that the U.S. fishers were not taking out excess species from the sea. Steve Murawski who retired last week from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Fisheries Service, said that he personally believes it to be true that overfishing has been checked. According to Steve Murawski, the phenomenon is one which is a major one for making the headlines since the results ensure the arrival of more healthy stocks in the near future. Not only are the lives of the sea animal stock going to be benefited out of this, fishermen who have survived financially too will harbor benefits.
Fishermen, however, have not yet stopped pouring their complaints. Their advocates are complaining that the end to overfishing has resulted in high cost. Several fishermen complained that after the new system came into the process it has hampered their business, making them suffer financially. Although the end to overfishing does not necessarily mean that all the stocks are healthy but the phenomenon certainly is a vital step to prevent extinction of the species.
