statn-fireThe wild fire that had broken out above La Canada Flintridge is proving to be every bit unpredictable and threatening as its goes on making its advance. On Thursday, to the horror of all, the fire was found to be switching directions and heading towards the Angeles Crest Ranger Station, posing quite a big danger in its wake.

The fast spreading Angeles National Forest fire, which has been nicknamed as the “Station fire,” was initially burning towards the northern remote areas. However, one of its fiery flanks is said to have made a shift in the direction, heading towards the downslope of a steep canyon, which places the station in the direct line of the fire. Several other structures are also facing a major threat from the advancing flames, according to the US Forest Service. The Forest Service spokesperson, Robert Brady said, “It’s close enough that people are starting to get alarmed about saving the station.”

The dangers for the residential neighborhood in La Canada Flintridge is high too; for if the fire reaches the station, it will be at a mere gap of a mile from residential complexes. Which in turn would require immediate evacuation operations to be carried out. Officials have said that till now, no evacuation has been carried out.

The fire is said to have burned almost 350 acres of dry bush. The brave efforts of the firefighters have been able to bring it under control by almost 10%. The cause of what triggered the fire is being investigated by officials.
