January 14th, 2011 - 8:06 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Jan 14 (IANS) The resort destinations of Himachal Pradesh - Shimla and Manali - received a fresh snowfall Friday, pushing the temperatures by several notches. While Shimla saw a light spell, nearby places like Kufri and Narkanda experienced moderate snowfall, according to a Met official. Manali also received moderate snow.
“The higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba districts have been experiencing moderate snowfall since Friday morning, while mid and lower hills experienced rain,” the official said.
Chances of widespread rain and snowfall remain in the state due to western disturbances - storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea in Central Asia and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, the weatherman said.
“There are chances of heavy snowfall at isolated places in the state till Saturday,” the Met official said.
Following teh snowfall, the temperatures across the state came down.
