Showers continue to cool north India

New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) North India witnessed another day of rain Friday with many parts receiving light to heavy showers. The mercury also dipped across the northern plains and the Met Office forecast more rain for the week-end. The national capital saw the day’s high at around 27 degrees Celsius, seven degrees below the normal. The day’s low was also a pleasant 18 degrees Celsius.

Met Office says a “western disturbance” is responsible for the unusual rain in the region. Overcast sky and showers in the evening made up for a pleasant start to the weekend.

The Met Office in its bulletin said the northern plains and the maximum temperatures were 8-10 degrees below normal.

Northeastern parts of the country also saw scattered showers. The eastern metropolis of Kolkata received 50.3 mm while Guwahati had 12.8 mm of rain.
