London, May 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Scientists have warned that the second Iceland volcano might erupt. The scientists at the University College of London Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction said that, “Analysis of the seismic energy released around Katla over the last decade or so is interpreted as providing evidence of a rising … intrusive magma body on the western flank of the volcano. Earlier seismic energy release at Katla is associated with the inflation of the volcano, which indicates it is close to failure, although this does not appear to be linked to seismicity around Eyjafjallajökull.”

The scientists also added that after gathering all the data, they inferred that there is very high frequency in the activity of the second Iceland volcano Katla. So they warned that an eruption might take place in the near future. They also warned that an earthquake might accompany it as well.

When the first Iceland volcano Eyjafjallajökull had erupted, then almost the whole of the aviation traffic near Europe had come to a standstill. It had far-reaching effects on major events, which also needed to be canceled or postponed, because the people who were supposed to attend them couldn’t do so, as all the flights to and fro Europe were scrapped.
