Relief from scorching heat for Delhiites over weekend (Lead)
June 13th, 2009 - 8:10 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, June 13 (IANS) Delhiites are likely to get some relief from the sweltering heat with the weatherman predicting thunderstorm and dust storm over the weekend that will bring down the day temperature.
The national capital Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average while the minimum settled at 28.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded Friday was 41.8 degrees Celsius.
“The residents of Delhi will get some respite from the sweltering heat Sunday. The cyclonic disturbances over central Uttar Pradesh will lead to thunderstorm and dust storm in the capital Sunday,” an official at the Safdarjung meteorological office said.
The humidity was recorded at 57 percent.
The met officials have forecast that the maximum temperature would hover around 41 degrees Celsius Sunday while minimum will be around 28 degrees Celsius.
