Alabama, April 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Red Cross has stepped in to provide relief items to victims in Alabama and other states hit by the devastating tornadoes that struck the South Coast this week.

The storms have killed more than 200 people in about six states in the country. Most of the victims are from Alabama where some towns have completely been wiped out. The Red Cross responded by moving into Alabama on Thursday. Red Cross plans to send its Emergency Response Vehicle to the central part of the start on Thursday afternoon.

Anita Foster of the Dallas Red Cross said the Red Cross will be making dramatic entry into the state. Foster said that, “There will be a lot of Red Cross people who will be parachuting into Alabama and Mississippi. Just looking at the footage, it’s just almost too much to bear.”

Currently about 2,700 people have been sheltered under tents provided by the Red Cross in the affected regions. The Red Cross has urged Americans to donate to help in the relief efforts.

Thousands of people have seen their homes blown away by the storms. So far 248 people have been confirmed dead in six southern states.
