Rare snowfall stuns South Africa

Pretoria, Aug 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Snowfall stunned the people of South Africa on Monday night when heavy snow fell in the country. The snowfall lasted till the next day with the temperatures of the country dropping fast and the snowfall spreading to other places.

People were excited as they were not expecting the snow at this time. By mid afternoon on Tuesday, snow had fallen on every province and temperatures had fallen below the freezing mark except in Limpopo. Satellite images however showed that Limpopo was not an exception as snow had fallen there too.

The snow is also said to have gone past some of the country’s borders. one high-altitude pass and some roads were blocked due to the snow. Snowflakes are not common in South Africa and people still get excited when it snows. The snow continued to grow heavy on Tuesday afternoon and people still continued to enjoy it.

The last time that people experienced snow fall in south Africa is in June 2007. The cold weather and the snow is expected to last a few more days. Experts say that this snow is the first heavy snow that South Africa has experienced in the last 30 years. People who were excited expressed their excitement at having experienced the snowfall some for the first time.
