Rampaging tusker kills one, injures two in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 16 (IANS) A tusker trampled a woman to death and injured two others in Jharkahnd, police said Saturday. According to the police Friday night an elephant entered Harwadih village of Silli block which is around 75 km from state capital Ranchi. The rampaging tusker attacked the village and trampled Gomti Devi to death.

Two other villagers were injured in the attack. At least five houses were also damaged.

According to forest officials the elephant had got separated from its herd and entered the village.

According to the forest department 400 people have been killed and over 700 injured in the last six years in confrontation with elephants.
