Rainy Sunday in Delhi, more rain likely Monday (Second Lead)

New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) Parts of Delhi received light showers till Sunday evening, giving people a respite from the warm and cloudy conditions earlier in the day. More rains have been forecast Monday in some parts of the city.

“The rainfall received is 1.9 mm till Sunday evening,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

“There will generally be cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in some parts of capital on Monday.”

“Some parts of capital may also receive heavy rainfall,” the IMD official added.

Sunday’s maximum temperature was 35.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above average, and the minimum was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for this time of the season. The maximum humidity was at 93 percent.

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, no traffic jams were reported in the city as it was a Sunday.
