Rains likely in Uttar Pradesh
June 8th, 2011 - 12:19 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, June 8 (IANS) Parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the state capital, could witness bouts of rain Wednesday, the Met office predicted saying the monsoon was expected to arrive by June 15.
“Due to upper air cyclonic circulations over parts of Uttar Pradesh and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, various regions in the state are likely to witness thundershowers accompanied by winds,” state meteorological department director J.P. Gupta told reporters.
The weather conditions are expected to prevail at least till Thursday.
“Eastern regions in the state would witness more thundershowers than other parts. As per the conditions prevailing, monsoon’s arrival in the state would be normal (June 15),” he added.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in Lucknow was recorded at 24.6 degrees Celsius — two degrees below the average.
