Rains in Delhi, more expected Friday (Lead)

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) Delhiites got a slight respite from heat after showers late Thursday. The Met office has forecast more rains for Friday.

Earlier Thursday, the capital sweltered in the humidity despite a pleasant start to the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.8 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season

The minimum temperature settled at 26.9 degrees, a notch above average for this time of the season.

Humidity wavered between a high of 95 and a low of 79 percent.

A total of 7.2 mm rainfall was recorded between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m.

“The sky will be generally cloudy Friday and there is a possibility of rains and thundershowers in the capital,” an official of the Indian Meteorological Department said.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 32 and 27 degrees respectively,” the official added.
