Rains bring down mercury in capital
June 10th, 2011 - 11:32 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 10 (IANS) Delhiites were in for a pleasant surprise Friday morning as they woke up to light showers and cool breeze which brought down the mercury to 20.8 degrees Celsius — seven notches below the average.
According to the Met department, around 10 mm of rainfall was recorded Friday morning.
“The skies would be partly cloudy with possibility of light rains in some parts of the capital later in the day,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected touch around 38 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
“The showers are primarily because of cyclonic movements in the upper air in some northern regions of the country,” the met official said. Humidity stood at 86 percent.
The maximum temperature Thursday was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius.
