Rains abate in north, mercury still below normal

New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) The unseasonal rain lashing the northern plains and north-western parts of the country for the past few days abated Monday even as the mercury across the region stayed below the normal levels. The national capital had another day of below 30-degree Celsius mark as the mercury hovered around 28 degrees. This was a good six degrees Celsius below what is normal for this time of the season. The day’s low was at around 15 degrees Celsius.

The capital, which received rain over the past few days, remained dry Monday.

The Met Office in its bulletin said the northern plains saw temperatures drop 4-6 degrees Celsius below what is normal for this time of the year.

The Met Office said the temperatures would return to their normal levels in two to three days from Monday.
