New Delhi, July 10 (IANS) Rain lashed Delhi Tuesday evening, bringing respite from the heat for the residents who have seen no showers ever since the monsoon hit Saturday. More rain is likely Wednesday.

“It is raining in almost every part of the capital,” said a met department official

The capital had seen only patchy rain since Saturday, when showers beginning Friday evening led to 40.1 mm of rainfall.

Delhi residents had passed a hot Tuesday with the maximum temperature shooting up to 36.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above average. The minimum settled at 26.6 degrees Celsius, average for the season, while the humidity wavered between a high and low of 91 and 58 percent.

The met department has forecast spells of rain in some area of the capital Wednesday.

“The sky will remain cloudy and one or two spells of rain are expected in some parts of the capital,” said a met department official.

The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to hover around 35 and 27 degrees respectively.
