Beijing, Aug 11 (DPA) Monday’s rain has cleared the skies and brought down the temperatures as Olympic athletes in outdoor sports can expect comfortable conditions in Tuesday’s competition at the Beijing Games. However, showers could return by afternoon which could affect the day’s archery final and women’s trap shooting, as well preliminary action in events like field hockey.

It could also lead to further delays in the tennis competition which was almost completely washed out Sunday.

Temperatures were not to exceed 26 degrees Celsius on a cloudy day, and pollution no major factor after the rain for the next days.

“The hot and humid weather of the past few days is unlikely to occur,” Beijing Meteorological Centre director Guo Hu was quoted as saying in the China Daily.

Hong Kong was also due to see modest temperatures, but a high humidity of 90 percent. Sailors in Qingdao had only a light breeze the third straight day.
