Rain and cold wave compound woes of shivering Ranchi
January 9th, 2012 - 9:48 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Jan 9 (IANS) Two hours of incessant rain coupled with the ongoing cold wave have compounded the woes of Ranchi’s residents.
“Some parts of Jharkhand including Ranchi received rainfall due to a cyclonic formation over the state for the last two days. The situation is likely to improve from Wednesday,” G.K. Mohanty, director of the Jharkhand Met Department told IANS.
The weather condition in Ranchi has worsened since the New Year dawned. The city has been witnessing erratic rainfall since Jan 1. Ranchi received nearly 9 mm rainfall Monday. Cloudy weather coupled with fog compounded the problems of school-going children.
Considering the cold wave and rainfall, Ranchi district administration Monday asked schools to close classes up to class eight till Jan 14. In Dhanbad, classes up to class fifth have been suspended till Friday.
