Queen Discusses Climate Change With Commonwealth State Heads Over Dinner

Trinidad and Tobago, Nov. 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Saturday night the monarch of England, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll threw a dinner for the heads of states and the government of the Commonwealth States. The Queen is the head of the Commonwealth. President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Gordon Brown were among the ones who attended the dinner. Her Majesty commented that the dinner was thrown in the hope that the Commonwealth, which had been functioning for the past 60 years, would continue to show the responsibility and relevance in it’s actions to the currently pressing problems as it had done in the past.
The dinner was thrown at the end of the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago. The 53 states that are the members of the Commonwealth to meet and come to a common consensus about the climate change. The heads of states were required to enter into an agreement, a “legally binding one”, that would deal with the tackling of the issue of climate change. The agreement would be signed in the Copenhagen Conference that would be held the coming week. The leaders also expressed that they wished to raise a Copenhagen Launch Fund that would be used to provide support to the proper countries in order to deal with the climate change.
In the dinner, the Queen stressed that the threat of the climate change is not a new one. She further said that this issue will have long standing and far fetching consequences on the security and stability of the countries. She also pointed out that most of the countries that are under maximum threat are the ones that are least able to counter the effects of a climate change.
