Feb 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The president of USA Barack Obama has always been a champion of the need for producing green energy in USA and it was evident from his speech given on the research done by Penn State University. He is for hiking tax incentives for making more energy efficient commercial buildings. The president also wants the states to update the existing buildings where energy hogging apparatus and power generation means are used till date. The university is currently conducting a research at the Navy Yard of Philadelphia where it wants to set up latest technology that will reduce energy consumption in establishments by a huge margin. In next 10 years this technology will be offered to the private sector.
The president is hopeful that the project and its outcome will go a long way in making USA a green and energy efficient nation in the world in the coming days. He said “You will help make America a world leader in cost-effective, energy-efficient buildings.” The $159 million energy project spanned over a 5 year period and $129 million will come from federal money. However, not everybody is upbeat about the steps taken by the Democrat led US government on the clean and green energy issues. The GOP members laud the green initiative but they have issues with the projects are being implemented.
Six students at the university protested the visit of the president and Victor Schleich was among them. He said that the for green energy has resulted in too much cost being incurred and too little produced at the end. The students said that the President is not aware of the reality.
