Planting trees is just a click away
June 3rd, 2010 - 8:47 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 3 (IANS) If you want to plant trees and have no time - just login to Grow-Trees.com and plant as many trees as you like by paying a nominal amount.
Grow-Trees.com is a web-enabled social business that offers environmentally conscious individuals and companies the opportunity to plant trees.
Grow-Trees.com organises planting in public lands through reliable organisations and audits their activity. It is an official partner of the UN Environment Programme’s Billion Tree Campaign.
“For about the price of a conventional greeting card Rs.50, individuals can plant trees, and also e-mail a certificate with a personal message to greet someone, and benefit all living creatures through flowers, fruit, fodder and fuel,” said Pradip Shah, the founder of the website.
Grow-Trees.com will reach out to the Indian diaspora worldwide to plant trees in India, just as the Jewish diaspora plants trees in Israel to celebrate birthdays, graduations or weddings.
“Individuals can choose locations such as Kanha National Park, Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary in Orissa or Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary for planting trees and can also select purposes such as ‘trees for communities’ and ‘trees for wildlife’,” he said.
“Companies also can use the website to plant trees to honour customers or engage with employees and send out an e-certificate,” he said.
