Bhubaneswar, Dec 25 (IANS) Cold conditions have intensified in Orissa with the mercury dipping further in many part of the state Friday, officials said.
Phulbani town, some 200 km from the state capital recorded a minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius - the state’s lowest of the day, D.C. Jena, the duty officer at Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

Normal life was hit in this forested town - that had recorded a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Thursday. Many of the residents preferred to stay indoor in the morning and evening.

The places which recorded below ten degree temperatures Friday include Sundergarh (8.4), Angul (8.0), Baripada (9.5), Bhabanipatna (8.0), Koraput (8.5), Keonjhar (9.5), Jharsuguda (9.7) and Sambalpur (7.6), he said.

The state capital and few other coastal regions, however, remained warmer.

While Bhubaneswar recorded minimum temperature of 13.0 degree Celsius, the temple town of Puri, and port towns of Gopalpur, Paradip and Chandbali recorded 15.4, 14.3, 13.4, and 11.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The cold wave condition is likely to prevail over some part of the state over the next two days, Jena said.
