One killed in Mumbai landslip
August 17th, 2010 - 7:54 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Aug 17 (IANS) One person was killed and three others were injured in a landslip that destroyed at least 10 huts in Mumbai’s suburb Ghatkopar Tuesday, police said.
The landslip folowing heavy rains took place in the afternoon in Asalpha village in Ghatkopar.
Fire brigade and police officials rushed the spot and rescued people buried under the debris of the huts.
“The deceased and the injured have been shifted to a nearby government hospital and more details are awaited,” said a police official at the Ghatkopar police station.
The neighbourhood has already been declared dangerous by the municipal corporation, but slum dwellers continue to stay in the area.
