LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (BNO News) – An oil spill from a commercial container vessel located in the West Basin of Los Angeles Harbor was reported Wednesday, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) said.

The USCG received the notice at the Long Beach command center earlier today at 10:20 a.m. local time. Some of the oil that was spilled onto the deck of vessel was discharged into the water, though the amount is still unknown.

Vessel traffic has not been affected by the spill or the efforts of organizations that have been contacted to contain and clean up the spill.

“There are no injuries reported, no threat to wildlife at this time and the cause of the spill is currently being investigated,” the USCG said in a statement.
