oil8Florida, May 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The effects of the Gulf oil spill is turning out to be really far reaching, not only figuratively but literally. Very recently, researchers discovered tar balls floating up on the beaches of Florida Key, miles away from where the oil spill originally took place. However, the scientists are still testing the oil, trying to determine if it is the same from the oil spill or of it has some different source. However, the discovery comes right after the researchers with the National Geographic stated that the oil from the spill in the Gulf of Mexico has a great chance of being dragged over to the beaches of Florida, owing to the strong Loop Current that surrounds the coasts of Florida.

Although the Coast Guard are still trying to determine if the oil in the beaches of Key West in Florida have come from the Gulf of Mexico or is part of the oil that leaks from the seafloor in that region, some satellite images tell a disturbing tale. The images show the oil from the Gulf of Mexico being carried by the loop tide, away from the spot of the spill, and toward the west coast of Florida. More images show the oil being carried over by the eddy almost a hundred miles away from the spill.

This possibly mans that the oil is, at present, circulating within the eddy, and being further spilled. The researchers have warned that this is going to man huge damage for marine life and the fishing industry in the beach of Key West in Florida. Moreover, it is also likely to stop the incoming of tourists in the region for a long time, resulting in huge monetary loss.
