September 9th, 2011 - 11:59 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) The current meteorological conditions suggest that the monsoon is not likely to recede during the second week of September as per the normal pattern, an official statement said Friday.
Normally, the southwest monsoon starts withdrawing from western parts of Rajasthan around Sep 1, said the statement from the earth sciences ministry.
While there will be widespread rainfall over the western Himalayan region, northwest India and the northeastern states will experience scattered rains, it said, adding that rainfall will start decreasing over northwest India from Sep 17.
