No showers in Uttar Pradesh, hot days to stay (Lead)
April 3rd, 2010 - 9:59 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, April 3 (IANS) The upper air cyclonic pressure that was expected to bring showers in parts of Uttar Pradesh, where the maximum temperatures have been hovering around 40 degrees Celsius, has suddenly weakened, the weatherman said Saturday.
Earlier in the morning, the Met Office forecast rainfall in parts of Uttar Pradesh in the next 48 hours.
“Dry weather conditions are now expected to prevail in Uttar Pradesh,” state meteorological director J.P Gupta told IANS on phone.
For the last few days, districts in Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing heat conditions with the maximum temperatures remaining 4-6 degrees Celsius above the average. Such weather conditions are not normal at this time of the year, officials said.
According to the meteorological Office, Ballia remained the hottest district in Uttar Pradesh with the maximum temperature recorded at 42.2 degrees Celsius. In Lucknow, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.0 degrees Celsius, four degrees above the average.
The temperature in Allahabad was 40.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above the average; Kanpur was 39.3 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above the average; and Varanasi was 41.0 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees above the average.
