New Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS) A day after Delhi recorded the coldest day of the season, chilly winds swept the capital Sunday. However, the weather office said the mercury witnessed a slight rise. The mercury is expected to fall Monday.

The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal for this time of the season.

The minimum temperature Saturday settled at 6.2 degrees, which was three notches below normal, while the maximum was 20.4 degrees, four notches below the average.

An Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official attributed the increase in day temperature Sunday to cold wind blowing in the capital.

“Cold wind is blowing in the capital and this has led to rise in temperature. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at around 22 degrees Celsius,” the official said.
