Nepali poacher arrested with leopard skins
January 12th, 2011 - 1:09 am ICT by IANSBalrampur (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 11 (IANS) A Nepali poacher has been arrested with two leopard skins in this Uttar Pradesh town, police said Tuesday.Veer Bahadur, 48 years, was held with the leopard skins near the bus station in Kotwali Shehar area Monday night following a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) and local police.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that Veer Bahadur has been working for a Nepal-based poaching racket for the last several years. We are yet to ascertain the place where the leopards were killed,” Police Inspector J.P. Tiwari told reporters here, some 300 km from Lucknow.
According to police, Bahadur is a native of Dang in Nepal.
