Moratorium on polluting industrial projects extended
April 28th, 2011 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 28 (IANS) The environment ministry Thursday extended the moratorium on developmental projects in 23 critically polluting industrial clusters.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) had identified 43 industrial clusters in various states as critically polluted, based on the parameters related to incidence of pollution in water, land and air.
According to a ministry statement, the moratorium was lifted in 20 clusters as on March 31 this year while in rest 23 clusters it has been extended till Sep 30 this year.
The government imposed a temporary moratorium Jan 13, 2010 on projects and states have been asked to submit a remedial plan to check pollution to the Central Pollution Control Board.
