Moderate quake recorded in Kashmir
April 1st, 2011 - 10:38 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, April 1 (IANS) An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, rocked Kashmir Valley Friday evening, officials said. No casualties or damage to property was reported.
The quake was reported around 7 p.m., an official at the meteorological office said.
This is the fourth tremor to shake Kashmir in the last seven days.
“The epicentre of the quake, in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan, was 36.5 degrees North latitude, and 70.9 degrees East longitude,” the official said.
